The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force in 1941–1942 was nicknamed the "Flying Tigers" and was composed of volunteer American pilots serving under the leadership of Claire Chennault. This base displays the iconic emblem of the AVG against the Chinese Nationalist roundel.
