VF-111, Fighter Squadron 111, was formed as US Navy fighter squadron VF-11 from 1942 through 1948 and re-designated VF-111 until disbanded in 1959. Attack Squadron 156 (VA-156) was re-designated as VF-111, was re-designated VF-26 in 1964 and then VF-111 for the last time from 1964 through 1995
During that time, the squadron flew F4F Wildcats, F6F Hellcats, F8F Bearcats, F9F-2 Panthers, F9F-8 Cougars, FJ-1 Furies, F-8 Crusaders, F-4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats. This provides a wide pallet of aircraft for the modeler.
Our painted display bases are made from fine-grained poplar hardwood with the designs precision laser-engraved, followed by a durable topcoat with the correct colors. Standard base sizes are:
